WE MUST NOT FELL THE LAST TREES STANDING
Until the fossil fuel industries is fined for the pollution its products cause, there will be the false economic valuing of zero carbon alternative energy resources.
The future cost of mitigating the costly destruction of environment, atmosphere, property and lives attributable to emissions from fossil fuels should be charged to those industries, and those funds invested in long term sustainable ‘zero carbon’ developments.
In any case the escalating economic exploitation of scarcity of fossil fuels, caused by their depletion, is itself not sustainable, leading as it is to increasing global poverty and collapsing economies – household, national and international – and the related social revolution against the iniquity of gross inequality.
Politically the government must choose between widespread fuel poverty and the costs of environmental destruction, and an all out implementation of energy conservation and alternative energy systems providing permanent equitable access to free ambient energy - fossil fuels being reserved to implement the change over to a sustainable future.
We must not cut down the last trees standing, as the Easter islanders did , or we will suffer their fate – obliteration.
